It's a great hobby for people who are creative and methodical and who have lots of patience. The ability to follow detailed plans and directions is a big plus. Ships
You can choose from all sorts of historic ships. These include Viking ships, military ships, sailing ships, pirate ships, modern day ships and many more. Some basic model ships are fairly easy to build, but model ships tend to be a lot more challenging to build than other types of models.
Traditionally, the models have been made from wood. There is something about wooden model ships that is very pleasing, much more so than the plastic models that are available. today. Perhaps it's the beauty and awe of the detail that goes into each one of these beautiful model ships.

There are all kinds of model ship kits available. Tall ships, cruise ships, sailboats, speedboats, wooden boats, and antique boats are some examples. If you decide to tackle a sailing ship, another layer of difficulty is dealing with the rigging that makes up much of the construction of the model. All in all, wooden models are generally more difficult to build than the plastic models.

As you can see, building model ships can be an intriguing and rewarding experience. It doesn't matter if you are building in plastic or wood, from a kit or scratch building, just starting out or with many years of experience. All you need is a passion for building model ships and a willingness to share your knowledge with others. Today, model ship building has developed into a worldwide and fascinating hobby. It is no longer an exclusive domain of sailors.
